Food:

Each child will bring his/her own vegetarian lunch pack, not requiring any heating. Snacks, milk and drinks will be provided at the Camp at appropriate times. Children will be asked to pray before taking lunch. Parents are advised to follow the same practice at home before each meal.

Swamijis Bhiksha Guidelines:

Camp families can offer bhiksha to Swamiji and other teachers during the course of the camp. The Parent Volunteer page on this website outlines the days and meals families can sign-up to offer bhiksha.

Bhiksha simply means ALMS. Our Scriptures state that Brahmacharins and Sannyasins seek Bhiksha from Devotees and Householders. They do not cook for themselves. Thus it becomes our Dharma to provide Bhiksha. Merely the presence of Brahmacharins and Sannyasins sanctifies our very Being. The attitude with which we provide Bhiksha is of utmost importance. While we provide food to sustain the body of the Sannyasins, we ask for the Jnana Bhiksha (ALMS of Spiritual Knowledge, Devotion, and Dispassion). Please click here for detailed SWAMIJI's BHIKSHA GUIDELINES.

Field Trips:

On some Fridays, there will be a field trip or swimming.

Parent Volunteers:

The camp is entirely run by volunteers. Review the options for volunteering your time and talents on the PARENT VOLUNTEER registration page. All parents are required to volunteer time in some way to the camp preparation, operation, or cleanup.

Youth Volunteers:

Youth entering grades 8-12 for the Fall 2011 school year can apply to be Youth Volunteers at the summer camp. Please check out the Youth Volunteer Guidelines page for all the details.

Communication:

Communications between the camp sevaks and the participants are done via e-mail and it is imperative that we have your current e-mail address to keep you informed of current and forthcoming activities. Chinmaya Mission Pledge

We stand as one family
Bound to each other with love and respect.
We serve as an army
Courageous and disciplined
Ever ready to fight against all low tendencies
And false values, within and without us.
We live honestly
The noble life of sacrifice and service
Producing more than what we consume
And giving more than what we take.
We seek the Lord’s grace
To keep us on the path of virtue, courage and wisdom.
May Thy grace and blessings flow through us
To the world around us.
We believe that the service of our country
Is the service of the Lord of lords
And devotion to the people
Is devotion to the Supreme Self.
We know our responsibilities
Give us the ability and courage to fulfill them.
